Complex design of research equipment and measurement devices
One of the biggest challenges an engineer may face is a total design of a complex system. A system, proper functioning of which must employ knowledge from many fields of science and technology. These are the advanced research equipment, measurement devices and modern laboratory equipment.

In SKA Polska we undertake such challenges, since they correspond to the nature of our multidyscyplinary team. Each of such tasks requires a thorough analysis of the measured phenomenon, of the process and a detailed knowledge of physical basis of the measurement. Even if the intended use of the device is not measuring particular physical quantities, it always requires sensors for controlling own work. One has to choose transducers appropriately and design the entire measurement line, taking into account the environment in which the measurement is to take place. In order to provide the required precision, all elements must be precisely positioned and calibrated. Appropriate mechanical subsystems must provide regulation everywhere, where it is necessary without loss of accuracy. Movable elements must be equipped with individually selected actuators and drive transmission systems (articulated mechanisms, guides, gears). Everything must be controlled and monitored by specialized, electronic systems, which provide functionality and safety. Most often, the device also requires interaction with the user using a keyboard or a display. One also has to program the data acquisition and processing system. The whole device must be placed inside a functional and aesthetic enclosure, which will provide adequate conditions for device operation, work comfort and operator safety. Taking into account the fact that the device usually must cooperate with a PC, our company also provides appropriate software analysing data and visualising measurements. Often, an additional programmer library is required (API, SDK), which enables the user to program complex interactions with the device and remote control of its work.
