Research Projects
Participation in international research projects is a great opportunity for our company, but also a huge challenge. First and foremost this is a challenge for our knowledge – subjects of the projects are often related to relatively new areas of science, only starting to find its uses in the industry or completely absent in it. It is also a challenge in the technical sense – tasks we face are always non-standard and solving them requires a close cooperation with partners from many countries. In exchange for the effort we become a part of an international community of engineers and scientists and cooperation with European companies, universities and scientific institutes opens many opportunities, which cannot be overestimated from today's perspective.

Terahertz camera After the terrorist attacks of 11th September 2001 pressure has been increased on technology improvement and development of procedures related to the general safety, in particular – safety of air travel, especially passenger travel. Other procedures increase safety, but this is achieved at the cost of lower throughput at the airport, increase of social unrest and appearance of many controversies. more » |

Functional textiles Rapid development of inkjet printing technologies in the last 20 years resulted in making this technique widely available in office printers. At the same time, a number of benefits has been noticed in this approach of applying substances on surfaces in industrial applications. Precision and easiness of control of fluid application allows to limit manufacturing wastes and obtain products impossible to be created with classic coating techniques. more » |

Device for blood staunching Currently, various branches of medicine use electromagnetic radiation (generated mostly using lasers), which carries on energy, resulting in a local increase of tissue temperature. Normally, radiation from the range of near and medium infrared is used (light wavelength 700 - 3000 nm). Thermal effect of a concentrated beam of light with big power density is used in: surgery, dermatology, ophthalmology, rheumatology or dentistry, e.g. in an ablation process (tissue destruction). more » |

Shape memory materials Shape memory materials have been successfully used in different areas of technology for a long time. The most often used material is nitinol – an alloy of nickel and titanium. The particular feature of these materials is pseudolplasticity, namely, the ability of reversible shape change caused by temperature change, of the superelasticity – return to the initial shape after a significant deformation. more » |

Safe catheters Studies performed by World Health Organisation (WHO) have shown that only in Europe almost a million patients a year falls prey to urinary tract-related infections. Almost 40% of hospital infections are related to urinary tract infections, among which 80% of the patients are sick because of the use of urological catheters. more » |

Water-based hydraulics In the branches of industry using heavy equipment, such as: mining, surface field works, drilling, etc., hydraulic oil is used as a working medium in elements of actuating hydraulics. This factor is commonly used despite a number of its unfavourable properties, including: toxicity, cancerognic properties, being harmful for environment, flammability, generating contamination, high disposal costs. In regards to ever higher ecological requirements placed by the EU for lubricants and hydraulic media, prices of these products are constantly increasing. Thus a demand rises for new, more environment-friendly and cheaper solutions. more » |

Nonwoven production Needled nonwovens are materials made of artificial or natural fibres, used e. g. as: insulating coatings, soundproofing, filters, paper felts, upholstery, sewing accessories and in fillings under newly built roads. Technology of their creation, known for around a hundred years, has not changed significantly over time despite the fact that it is rather efficient and requires relatively low investment, it has not been improved ever since. more » |
